The Long Beach Pack Junior Golf program is an extension of the WSGA Southern Area Junior Golf program. Our goal is to offer juniors the opportunity to develop themselves through the game of golf and character education. The Southern Area runs an academy at Maggie Hathaway Golf Course. The facility is a First Tee Chapter called "The First Tee of South Los Angeles".
WSGA has a relationship with American Golf Corporation which allows our juniors, ages 7 through 17, access to practice sites and playing times at local golf courses. At the end of the training year is a multi-day Junior Golf Championship Tournament that is attended by some 300 juniors. That annual tournament is now called the Allen Bennett Junior Golf Championship, in honor of Alan Bennett who gave so much of himself to developing and promoting the WSGA Junior Golf Program. It is rotated through each of the five WSGA Regions.
Junior golfers, who are members of WSGA are welcome to play in Long Beach Pack tournaments at no cost. Juniors may join by having their parents complete and submit the Junior Golf Membership Application. For details, contact Frank Jenkins @ 310-670-3373.
